Surfing along the up-rise of America's petrochemical development in the early 1970's, I was very fortunate to take part in Ta-Nun Group's construction of the first and only sodium cyanide plant in Denver, America. Through 10 years of diligent work and innovation, Ta-Nun had grown into a hundred-million-dollar, stock-listed business. The strong research team has not only built sizable production units for sodium cyanide, acetonitrile, EDTA, and nickel sulfate, but also extended over to the electromechanical, metal, and cement industries. Regretfully, due to excessive credit debt from rapid expansion, Ta-Nun encountered serious financial problems and underwent corporate restructuring. The corporate founding Kaohsiung plant was forced to be leased to Imperial Chemical Corporation in 1992, and I chose to leave in pursue my own frontier.
In 1996, great industrial recession struck the market and impacted Imperial Chemical substantially. As one of the founders of the sole sodium cyanide production plant in America, I was unwilling to see all previous efforts going to waste and no one to stand up for the helpless employees. Therefore, I made one of the most difficult decisions in my life to acquire Imperial Chemical in hope to revive the struggling company. Fundamentally, we preserved our core values of abiding strictly to the regulations, maintaining our integrity and improving competitiveness. Changes were made by adopting more flexible efficient management, replacing outdated equipment, and enhancing network with companies in the industry across the globe. From our 15 years of experience walking down this harsh path, we have learned to cope and to conquer all adversities. We have endured the financial crisis when it struck Asia in 1997 and the world in 2008. In addition, we continued to rebuild our resources and credibility. Eventually in 2010, we were able to obtain full property right of the Kaohsiung plant.
Imperial Chemical now possesses many great assets, including a newly renovated plant and loyal employees who have firmly stayed with us throughout the difficult times. We have also successfully distributed our acetonitrile to numerous countries such as China, Korea, and Brazil.
For us, sustainability is not merely a slogan, but our commitment and responsibility. We continue to uphold our business philosophy and reputation, and genuinely welcome all respected partners to join us in cooperation. Together, let us grasp root in America, branch out to the world, and sail ahead into the future!
